Here is a simple recipe for a basic vanilla cake that you can make at home:

Ingredients:

1. 2 cups all-purpose flour

2. 1 and 1/2 cups granulated sugar

3. 3 teaspoons baking powder

4. 1/2 teaspoon salt

6. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

7. 1 cup whole milk

8. 2 large eggs

9. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a 9-inch cake pan.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Add the softened butter and mix on low speed with an electric mixer until the mixture becomes crumbly.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix on low speed until just combined.

Increase the mixer speed to medium and beat the batter for 2 minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.

Pour the batter into the greased cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before removing it from the pan and transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
